Isabelle Edi, (she/her) is an artist, costume designer, film maker and curator, circling around Black (diasporic) existences and their echos - in and through (moving-) images, costumes and sound.

Her practice in an artistically and scientifically expanded concept of image, sound and costume production, that incorporates topics of fabulation, nostalgia and futuristic ideas. Swirling up western concepts of time, historical and other time specific elements get interwoven with her own futuristic, playful aesthetics.

She only works in collaboration, for example with: Mariama Sow, Marga Alfeirão, David Uzochukwu, Mzamo Nondlwana, Elvan Tekin, kiana rezvani, Veza Fernandez, Adam Said Tahir, Iris Omari Ansong and many more.

In 2017, friends and her founded: POSSY, a collective which is committed to the visibility of FLINTA* in cultural and club spheres. Since then, sound became a political tool and part of her work.

While being in the Master program „Critical Studies“ at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, she is currently finalizing the collectively written and produced short movie: “A Black Fairytale“ with Mariama Sow and Kim Sanou, which was embedded into a series of workshops for Black people in Vienna.
Besides that, she is working within Queer and Bipoc dance scenes as a costume designer and as artist in between the disciplines.
